I live in the outback, harsh country, climate extremes, need tough hardy, plants.?

Where I live is in flood right now after 10 years of severe drought. We have extremely hot summers (50+C 130 F) and in winter have killer frosts. All the plants I bought up from the city died and I need to know some shrubs, trees and plants that are bullet proof! Before anyone tells me the best solution for me is to move! I am a bit tired of that one. Any sane suggestions?
