Is christianity a religion of guilt?

I hear Christians all the time say "christ died for my sins so I should love him!" and "i'm so thankful God would love a miserable sinner like myself!" It makes it seem like Christians are taught to devalue themselves and feel guilty so the impression that Jesus is "saving" you makes you all the more deluded into thinking their is some supernatural power that cares for you. What do you think?
